Falling

each time it gets more magical, yet more real.the night air was cool and dry, and it smelled of layers of night-mist and crisp darkness and the tang of fallen leaves. all that surrounded us was distant crashing of the waves and our quiet words as we stood close together, seemingly at the top of the world, with the moon as our only witness, high up above our heads, and peeking secretively through the thin cover of foliage. we spoke in whispers, and we laughed softly, shyly, as if anything more would slice into this dream and dissolve it into nothingness. and in the dim light of the night beneath the stars, I saw you smile, and I smiled, too.
